Tesselaar Tulip Festival

The Tesselaar Tulip Festival is on at the moment and we went a couple of weekends ago. Some of the flowers were still in bud, but there were enough out to make a beautiful display. The kids had a ball running along the rows of flowers, though Toby wasn’t too impressed with the mud that ended up being caked on the soles of his shoes. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours admiring and photographing the flowers (and the kids). The theme for the weekend was Turkey, since that is where tulips originated, so there were stalls that were all things Turkish including food, so we had some kebabs for lunch. I guess they just couldn’t ignore the Dutch even though it was a Turkish theme, and we got some Dutch poffetjes as well.

We took a big detour to get home, going up to Mount Donna Buang again where it wasn’t as cold a last time! So no snow, but still quite cool. Nathan and I climbed the outlook tower while Andrew took a tired and cranky Toby into the shelter (Toby wanted to be carried up the tower but neither Andrew or I would agree to that :D) where the fire was going.
